Open Wednesday – Sunday 4pm-Midnight
Kitchen Hours: 4pm-9pm

The Mule, side-by-side with Jax Diner, is the late-night lounge, alter ego – which brings modern comfort with local charm. The Mule offers craft concoctions from the bar and bites from the kitchen in the evening, Wednesday through Sunday starting at 4pm. Whether it’s sipping a glass of wine, tap beer, or a cocktail carefully crafted by our bartender, we like to cross, familiar with hints of the unexpected.

The Mule is a gathering place for new and old friends, locals and tourists alike – a space where we want to share our passion with you.  The evening fare coming from the kitchen, no longer churns out the usual offerings in the morning, but instead offers a different menu that pairs and plays well with the beverages in hand.

Proprietor J.B. Leamer has his take on what makes The Mule and Jax Diner relevant.  “It has been an exciting time opening The Mule–A mid-century lounge with a Modern Comfort vibe. A concept built by locals for locals lead by Executive Chef Sharon Li, Manager Logan Conant, Cocktail Manager Jack Gilland, and Beverage Director Jay Nunez. I am not sure if we could gather any better talent under one roof. These are some of the best & brightest folks in the industry, and we are very lucky to have them here. We were fortunate to have been embraced by the community first with JAX Diner. It’s been really fun to continuously hone both businesses and grow as downtown Napa experiences a renaissance.  Having a great team and a loyal customer base makes it easier, but this is certainly a business supported by passion.  Our team has that passion.  I can see them working to enhance the menu and concept, anchored by a genuine appreciation for serving others.”

Jax Diner took root in the heart of Napa, in 2014.  It began as a yearning for a place of nostalgia. Over the course of time, it grew to be known for its diner food that is simple, and done right.

Executive Chef, Sharon Li’s mantra, and the reasons you need to visit Jax Diner and The Mule are wrapped up nicely in one sound bite.  “My aim is to serve with humility and share a connection with our guests through the comfort of food.  Food is special to me, and I love the way it can evoke memories or build new ones.  Nothing feels better than sharing food with your friends and family.”

Chef Sharon started cutting onions with Taste of the Himalayas restaurant, seven short years ago.  She then attended Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, and scored her first job at Tyler Florence’s Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco back in 2012.  She worked her way up through the kitchen and eventually found her way to Napa by being named Chef de Cuisine, and eventually Executive Chef at Press Restaurant in St. Helena.
